My first Triathlon

Last October I did my first Sprint Triathlon! I came in 5th in my age group, and had a lot of fun! I encourage everyone to try it at least once. I started easy, in a pool vs a lake, since I don't really know how to swim. I did the Summit Tri which was a 400 meter swim (8 full laps, up then back), straight from there you get on your bike and ride 9 miles, then you park your bike and change shoes and run 3.2 miles (5K). I don't recall my exact time, but I know I want to do it again. Next time save time and swim in a tri suit so I don't have to sit and change. I think I waisted a lot of time in my transitions, from one event to the next. I had a great support group that came to watch me finish this awesome accomplishment. I went from not running, not swimming, and actually not doing much of anything there for a few years. I am glad I have conquered that awful sickness. Now I want to use it while I have it! Why do we exercise...because we can! Think of those who can't. We are blessed to have the ability to move without pain! Take advantage of it and MOVE.
